BESIDE THE RIVER ALLEN
AT REDHEAD RETREAT.
FIND YOUR WAY
Part of the charm of Redhead Retreat is how tucked away it is: no mains water, no toilets, and no Wi-Fi.
Download our walking map before you travel and save it to your phone: it shows the footpath from the parking field to the sauna, a gentle ten-minute walk across uneven ground.
Comfortable shoes recommended.
Getting Here
Witchampton Lane, then a short walk
Head for Witchampton, near Wimborne. Parking is in the field off Witchampton Lane - the gate into the car park is at ///lives.exhaling.postcard. From there it's about a ten-minute walk along a mowed path through the meadow to the sauna.
The ground is uneven in places, so sturdy footwear is a good idea. The terrain means the site is only suitable for able-bodied guests.
Timing
Arrive early, start on the hour
Sessions begin on the hour and last 75 minutes. Please allow time for the walk from the field so you're at the sauna ready for your start time, arriving fifteen minutes early works well.
The Experience
Cedar - log-fired, for up to six
Cedar is our log-fired horsebox sauna, converted by hand and heated on a live fire. Each 75-minute session is a private booking of the whole sauna for up to six people.
Between rounds, cool off the traditional way - the River Allen runs alongside the site.
On Site
Simple by design
There's no shower and no dip tank, the river is your cold plunge. Phone signal is poor, so download directions before you set off, and bring plenty of water and your own towels.
Opening
Seven days, 8am-7pm
Open every day of the week, with sessions on the hour from 8am until the last session at 7pm. If none of the listed times work for you, get in touch, we can often accommodate special requests.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO.
Redhead Retreat is the wilder of our two sites; that's the point of it. A minute's preparation makes the difference between a good session and a great one.
Bring water - at least a litre each
Bring your own towels (two is ideal: one to sit on, one to dry)
Swimwear for the river, and shoes for the walk
No toilets or shower on site - plan accordingly
Signal is patchy - save directions offline
Field parking, then a 10-minute walk on a mowed path
Rough terrain - able-bodied guests only
